The hotel was a tall building that loomed over the other, smaller buildings. It was white with a tint of turquoise to the walls and an impressive garden in the front where marble benches were set in a half-circle. It was a peaceful place, smelling of flowers and freshly mowed grass. It wasn't too busy, but there was a good amount of tourists staying in the hotel while visiting Hallow's Edge.
Emerging from a cloud of black shadows and mist was Kurami, in the direct path to the entrance, startling the people entering and leaving the fancy hotel. They stared at her in silence, perhaps awed by the pretty whites of her hair and dress, or by how disturbing similar her features were to a porcelain doll. Whatever the case, her eyes stared straightforward as she walked into the lobby of the hotel, a cool wave of air conditioning relieving her from the heat outside. Like outside, inside had flowers on the tables, plush couches and carpets, and a type of cafe in the corner. The hotel had twenty floors, with the top three floors having the suites. There was a pool outside as well as inside, along with a jacuzzi, a spa and work-out room, and a fancy restaurant. Apparently the hotel was the host of many weddings, dances, and the like.
A soft sigh managed to escape Kurami's pursed lips. This had not been her idea; In fact, she couldn't remember who had come up with the idea, but someone had had the brilliant idea to spend the weekend in this new hotel that had recently been built. Kurami had disagreed in her mind, questioning why they would when they had a perfectly good house to live in. No doubt those people she had come to call 'friends' were quite the strange ones of the bunch. She could have decided not to come, but she had found she was fond of going along with their crazy whims. She'd never admit it, but she knew she would be bored out of her mind had she stayed home, or gone off to do her own thing. Which was what? Kurami questioned herself. Her 'own thing' had somehow been transformed into watching over her friends and keeping them safe to the best of her ability.
It was only out of habit that she was there to check up on them. Any normal person in any normal place wouldn't because the chances of something out of the ordinary happening would be miniscule, but here, in this topsy-turvy town, Kurami herself knew how quickly a situation would turn awry in just a matter of moments. It could be compared to Texas; One moment the sky is pretty and clear, and the next an angry tornado is destroying everything.
After wandering the first floor, Kurami finally stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the nineteenth floor. She stood with her back against the wall, her eyes closed. The fluorescent lights of the elevator made her appear to be even more white, as startling white as a ghost with dark shadows stretching over her cheekbones from her eyelashes. She was so still that she could be mistaken for a statue or even a life-size porcelain doll. The elevator was stopped several times as people needed to use it, and each time they gave a little gasp when they saw her. Kurami never opened her eyes nor moved; She preferred to be sunk into her own world at the moment, away from the terrible elevator music.
It was the last stop before the nineteenth floor that made Kurami open her eyes. She could feel the burning stare of someone on her, driving her to an annoyance like no other. Her eyes snapped open, a threatening glare ready to pierce whoever.
Instead, Kurami found she was shocked by the other person.
It was a young girl who appeared to like Lolita fashion and porcelain dolls. Her hair, a dark silver with a streak of dark blue on the left, was held in braided pigtails that reached her elbows and she wore a black dress with ruffles and a white apron, white kid gloves with matching stockings, and black Mary Janes. In her arms she held a porcelain doll. If Kurami had to guess the age of the girl, she would say somewhere between ten and twelve.
The girl had pale green eyes that, at any other moment, Kurami would have thought were pretty, but at that moment she was annoyed that this child had the audacity to stare so openly at her, with no shame at all.
"You're pretty." The girl suddenly blurted out, her fingers petting the doll's hair. Kurami muttered a quiet 'thank you' and stared at the elevator numbers as it rose higher and higher. When it had finally reached Kurami's floor, she waved an awkward goodbye to the girl and took a step to leave the elevator when, simultaneously, the other girl pulled Kurami back and pressed the button to shut the elevator off. The doors slammed shut and the lights snapped off.
The girl had Kurami against the wall, one hand over her mouth. For a girl of her size, Kurami had to admit that she had lots of strength. She was about the same height as herself, her eyes coming to meet her own. Kurami noticed how in the darkness the girl's eyes glowed like a dying green glowstick. If it wasn't for her curiosity, Kurami would've pushed the girl away. She would've fought her if need be, but at the moment she didn't feel the need to hurt the girl. She was young and odd in a way that fascinated Kurami. Usually when she became fascinated with someone, she'd want to keep them around until that fascination ebbed away.
From the pockets of her dress, the girl drew out a long syringe with a clear liquid in it. She twirled it between her fingers and then, like a cobra striking its prey, she stuck the needle into Kurami's neck and injected the liquid into her bloodstream. Kurami had had little to no time to stop it, and when the girl decided she was successful, she turned the elevator back on and pushed Kurami onto the hallway floor.
"You best not get your blood or saliva anywhere. I'll be watching." Hearing the girl speak, Kurami sat up in time to see her smile childishly at Kurami and, watching in horrified interest, how the doll morphed into a tiny doll of Kurami. The elevator doors slid shut and the girl, with her doll, was gone.
Kurami's back hit the floor. She stared up at the ceiling, her vision blurring and switching from focused to unfocused. She felt dizzy and cold, although she was sweating and she knew she had a fever. There were two circles of bright red on each cheek, her eyes feverish and bright. She felt as if lava had been injected into her bloodstream and was spreading all throughout her body. It was torture.
Lying on the floor panting, Kurami squeezed her eyes shut as the girl's words haunted her mind. 'You best not get your blood or saliva anywhere.' What did that even mean? Would she infect anyone if her saliva or blood got on them?
Kurami swallowed hard. She pushed herself to her feet, unable to keep herself from whimpering when her body angrily protested and nearly knocked her back down again.
By the time she had made it to the room she knew everyone would be in, the pain wasn't as bad. Despite how well she hid it, she got questioning looks from the redness in her cheeks and her feverish eyes. She explained that she took the stairs because she hadn't wanted to deal with the terrible elevator music in her usual attitude, and they seemed to buy her lie.
Kurami collapsed on the bathroom floor. It was cool in the suite, but she felt like she was in an inferno. Weakly Kurami pulled herself over the side of the bath tub and turned on the cold water, desperately drinking the water to cool herself down.

Samara sat beside the pool taking a few minutes for herself before she went up to see the others. it was hot as hell outside and she seemed to be the only one in the group enjoying the heat. after about 5 minutes she got up and walked inside and pressed the button for the elevator. she waited tapping her foot and as the doors slid open she almost gasped at the little girl walking out with the doll. she stepped into the elevator and didnt take her eyes off the girl until the doors slid shut.

The sun overhead in the bright, perfect sky beat down on Lucia's shoulders, turning her always-fair complexion freckly and tanner. She wrapped herself in a towel as she got out of the hotel's pool, curious as to where Kurami went. Sure, this vacation wasn't her idea, but she wasn't going to throw away days of endless relaxation, now was she? That is, until she felt something go horribly wrong. She gave a sharp intake of breath as she realised what was happening to Kurami. Lucia's unnatural connection with everything had enabled her to have certain powers, over everyone else. And she never liked them. But now, she was glad. As she ran to Kurami, pinpointing her location, she felt an immense sense of dread. She knew what was going to happen soon on that island, and she didn't like it one bit.

Despite the ice-cold water Kurami was lapping up, the fire had yet to leave her veins. She started to feel such a terrible desperation to make it go away that she felt the sting of something--What was it? Tears?--on the back of her eyes. This wasn't like her at all; She never felt this much. She never had such strong human emotions, save those Lucia had the ability to awaken in her. Even so, those were never painful like this.
Her hair by now was drenched from the water, but still her skull felt like it would burst. She pushed herself away from the tub, her arms shaking, and sat with her back against the wall. Her head fell inbetween her knees as her head throbbed more, her hands clenched so tightly that her nails dug deep into her palms. Blood welled from the half-crescent moon marks left from her fingernails.
Kurami peeked through her fingers, her pupils so large that a sliver of magenta could be barely seen. As always, she had this strong sense when it concerned Lucia. Whether if Lucia was in danger or she was getting closer to her, Kurami suddenly knew. She'd get this scent of flowers, and then Lucia would appear.
Kurami watched as the hallway twisted and spun, switching from colour to colour. She wasn't sure what was what anymore; Everything was mixing together in a whirlpool.
And then there was Lucia, standing in front of her. Kurami could hear someone whimpering and she looked around to find out who was making those noises when she realized it was her, and she was huddled in the corner against the bathtub and the wall, her hands gripping her head. She tried to form words, but all that came out were hiccups and squeaks.
The longer Kurami stared at Lucia, the prettier she seemed to her. Lucia's hair was a mix of teal, turquoise, and green. In fact, some strands weren't the same so that, combined, her hair made up one magnificent, new colour that Kurami absolutely adored. Kurami wasn't one to like many colours; She mostly liked white, and sometimes liked pale pinks and greys. Lucia's hair looked so brilliantly bright and soft.
A sudden panic seized Kurami. The words of that girl from the elevator floated through the chaos in her mind. If Lucia even touched her, would she be infected?
"D-don't" was the only word Kurami could manage before clapping her hands over her mouth, her eyes widening as she felt bile rise up from her stomach and crawl up her throat.

Dahlia Peregrine was the girl's name. She was the daughter of Lemuel Peregrine, a psychotic killer that was known all over the world and currently locked away in the nation's best prison. Her father had an associate with the murders he had committed, and her name was Cotton Penderghast. Cotton was in the same prison as Lemuel and, like him, she had been the second-most wanted murderer all over the world.
Cotton Penderghast had a daughter that was the same age as Dahlia with the name of Moka. The two had been best friends ever since they were five. Where Moka was at the moment, Dahlia wasn't sure. She was following the plan and carrying out her part; She was infecting those she wanted to and then, once she was satisfied with her work, she would sit back and wait for the fun to start.
In fact, everyone on the island was oblivious to the simple fact that it belonged to Moka's mother. Everyone thought it would be an escape to paradise, but it would be the exact opposite, if things played out like Dahlia hoped.
Dahlia yawned in the elevator. She had gotten several others with the infection already. They would be the carriers, and they would be the domino pieces that would fall, setting everything in motion.
When the elevator doors slid open, her eyes were met with a fiery-red-haired girl. She certainly had a strange quality to her; One that Dahlia couldn't pinpoint nor had the time to ponder over what it could be.
Dahlia left the elevator without a word to the girl. She had wandering, and infecting, to do.

Lucia's mouth dropped as she stared at Kurami. She now knew something was wrong, Kurami wouldn't have pushed her away like this normally. Her mouth curled into a frown as she began pacing back and forth, the soft plush carpet underneath her feet cooling down whenever she touched a new spot. 'What happened out there? Where was I? Who did this to you?!' Lucia was on the verge of having an anxiety attack now, which was not commonplace for her. Normally calm, she only lost her cool when it was grave, or involved Kurami. This, appeared to be both.

The acidic burn of the bile choked Kurami, her hands clenching tighter over her mouth. She fought to keep the bile down, but it was no use; Her eyes were burning from the sting of it. She knew she wouldn't be able to keep it down; If she kept this up, she would vomit all over her hands and her dress. She pulled herself over to the toilet and leaned over the rim. The burning in her throat got worse when the vomit left, her eyes squeezed shut while her body went through violent convulsions.
Trembling, Kurami rested her head against the toilet and stared blankly into the toilet. It took her a moment to comprehend that this wasn't like any vomit she had ever seen. In fact, it looked more like some type of strange chemical.
It was thick like molasses and pitch-black, and it had no scent at all. Rather than being broken apart by the water, it stuck together like glue to the bowl of the toilet, like some kind of spider web. She slammed the lid of the toilet shut.
"Some girl," Kurami said in a quiet voice. Her fingers gripped the toilet and she pushed herself up to her feet, her legs wobbling.
"A young girl with silver hair in braided pigtails."
Kurami sighed, a familiar look of annoyance on her face. The fire had finally cooled down and her vision had returned to normal. She almost felt like her normal self, except there was a growing feeling of disgust that she couldn't escape. She knew that, whatever that poison was, it had won. It had beaten her own immune system; It had defeated her and taken over in her bloodstream. Her hands clenched as she thought of this because this meant she was weak and vulnerable to such an attack.
A sudden self-hatred bloomed inside Kurami. She should've known. She should've killed that miserable little wench.

Lucia would have been near tears by now if she had the eyes in which for the tears to escape. But she couldn't, and therefore her anger manifested itself in other ways. And she was becoming increasingly angry, mostly at herself. She shouldn't have let Kurami go alone. If Lucia had went with her, she might not be suffering right now. But not for long. Lucia was going to demand a cure for whatever ailment Kurami was suffering from. She didn't even bother to change, she just walked furiously to the door, and left, looking for whoever had put this affliction on Kurami. She was going to make sure they would pay for this.

Kurami watched Lucia walk away and involuntarily felt her shoulders sag in sadness. She had always felt this sadness when Lucia was gone, but it was never this bad. Kurami almost ran after her, but a wave of nausea kept her on the toilet seat. It was silly to think that she was the reason for Lucia's anger; In fact, she knew that she wasn't, but that wasn't the point. She didn't like that Lucia was so upset and blaming herself. If Lucia had been with Kurami in the elevator, they both would be suffering right now.
Kurami was glad that Lucia wasn't infected like she was. She pushed herself to her feet and groggily walked to the closest bed she could find. She immediately collapsed on the comfortable bed and just as quickly, she was asleep.

Dahlia had a slight skip in her step as she walked down the sidewalk past the pool. In just a few hours, the island would be in a chaos. If the carriers of the infection didn't pass it on, the ones that were the victims would do the job.
She would be safe in the underground room. There were cameras placed all over the island so she would be able to watch, and be out of harm's way. It was the perfect way to spend a vacation, in her opinion.

Ed threw a beach ball that looked like a giant piece of candy at Rachel's head, and laughed when it hit, and bounced off into the bushes. "This vacation thing was a really good idea, Mandie! I got so sick of seeing fog and woods all the time." She grinned, hopping out of the pool, and going to retrieve the newly lost beach ball. Her teal hair matched the water, and her swimsuit was a mint green one-piece, cut like one you'd find in the 1940's. She was wearing overly large sunglasses, and as she reached for the beach ball, she saw Lucia, looking furious, which was highly out of character for the normally composed woman. Ed wondered what was up, if Lucia was angry, it was bounf to be about Kurami, or serious. Or possibly even both.

Mandie laughed along with Ed when the beach ball bounced off Rachel's head. She sat on one of the pool chairs with her legs drawn up. She wore a shiny silver one-piece bathing suit that reflected the sun and a large and floppy black sun hat, and black sunglasses to shield her eyes from the garish sun.
"I thought that a vacation would be great for everyone to relax and have fun." Mandie nodded as she licked her blue Popsicle, her lips and tongue bluish. Her smile faded when Lucia stormed by, her anger so strong that for a moment Mandie thought she could see the clouds of rage surrounding Lucia.
She leaned forward on the seat and watched her closely until she was out of sight. She had followed the path of that silver-haired girl that had walked by a few minutes before. Could she be the reason for her rage? That was unlikely. None of them knew the girl, but that didn't mean Lucia didn't know her; She could be an old foe.
"Do you think we should check up on everyone in the hotel? Maybe something happened. Maybe Lucia had a fight with Kurami? Although that is just .. Impossible. Lucia's too calm to fight with anyone, especially Kurami. This doesn't make sense." Mandie sat back and tapped her chin, her Popsicle in her other hand. It was slowly melting in the heat, making drops of blue on her towel.

[center]"This is really, really odd. Lucia never loses her composure like this." Ed's eyes wandered off to the sky, as she attempted to search her brain for a reason, and then her eyes looked back at her shoulders, which she noticed were becoming darker in the sunlight. "Nope . I got no ideas why Lucia is so furious. The only logical explanation is... alien invasion!" Ed dropped the beach ball, surprised by what she just said. "It makes sense, in my brain. I think, it's time to investigate. Who knows, could be a fight just brewing around the corner." Ed flashed a toothy, fanged grin as she ran off, determined to put on actual clothes. She hopped out of the pool in a single bound, and was off for their hotel room before anyone could argue whether or not it was a bad idea.

Mandie scratched her head, a look of confusion on her face. Ed was completely right; This was no behavior that Lucia ever displayed. Something was really, really wrong for her to behave that way.
"Well," Mandie said as she stood up from the chair with a stretch. "There's no harm in finding out what's going on, right?" She smiled at Rachel before running off to the hotel, trying to finish her Popsicle.

Kurami stirred after her nap. When she woke up, her bones felt stiff and ached with each movement. She slowly sat up and wiped the sleep out of her eyes, yawning. She didn't know what time it was or how long she had slept.
She supposed she felt a little better. She would feel completely better if her nap had erased the memory of what had happened to her.
With a start, Kurami jumped out of the bed. She stumbled and swayed on her feet, but she was determined to find Lucia.
Lucia being as angry as she was .... Things would not end good. Kurami had to find her and calm her down.
She ignored the voices around her asking her what was wrong and if she was okay as she left the hotel room. She was so focused on finding Lucia that she didn't care about anything else.

Lucia was beyond angry and the person she blamed most was herself. Almost running now, she quickly attempted to find whoever had done this to Kurami. As she walked around each room, searching all of them, she wondered who would have done this to Kurami, and why.

"Don't trip~" A soft girl's voice called after Lucia as she hurried by.
Dahlia sat on the edge of a stone gate enclosing a garden, her legs swinging back and forth. She was watching Lucia with interest, licking vanilla ice cream off an ice cream cone.

The entire elevator ride down to the lobby, Kurami leaned against the wall, her eyes staring up at the ceiling. Again and again, the incident with that girl played in her mind. She thought of all the ways that she could have stopped it; She thought of every possible thing she could've done. But there was no sense going over it when she couldn't change it.
Kurami rubbed the back of her neck as she stepped out of the elevator and walked down into the lobby. No sight of Lucia or even the grey-haired girl with braided pigtails. Her limbs were still tired, protesting every movement. She ached to collapse onto the couch in the lobby, but she forced her legs to keep moving past it to outside.
